Coping with COVID! Young Adult Style. 11th and 12th graders
Cope with the constant change associated with COVID and teen life. This program is appropriate for high school teens in 11th and 12th grade. 1.5hr weekly meetings via Zoom.

About this Event
Join us for a 7-week program specially designed for the needs and challenges facing young adults in this unprecedented time. Learn skills to build resilience and strengthen coping mechanisms. Each week we will dive into a new topic including- dealing with disappointment, self-care, boredom, isolation, igniting your creativity, coping with anxiety, and practicing gratitude, etc.
A "Coping Care-Package" will be yours with all the supplies you need!! Art supplies kinetic tools, a journal, handouts, treats, and more!
This 7-week program's cost will include:
- Coping Care-Package
- Weekly Zoom Workshop (two in-person sessions)
- Access to a "private" online form-to connect with your support members
This is a hybrid program with the majority of sessions held online via Zoom. The middle check-in session and final session held in person, outside, with social distancing practices in place.
Vanessa Herrera, MEd, is a youth educator who has spent the last 20 years as a classroom teacher and an outdoor educator. She holds a BA from UC Santa Cruz and a Master in Education from UC Los Angeles. In addition, she has a certificate in Mindful Education from Mindful Schools and is a mindfulness practitioner herself. Vanessa credits her mindfulness practice and ability to create a routine as the key to her sanity during these past COVID months. She spent two years working in Leadville, Colorado facilitating high school and middle school age social-emotional skill workshops using the Girls Circle Program. She is passionate about empowering youth to take control of their own story and make positive changes in their lives and our Kern Valley community.
